The Art of Website Design: Crafting a Digital Experience That Drives Results

In a fast-paced digital world, your website is the first impression many potential customers will have of your business. It’s no longer just a place to showcase your products or services— it's a powerful marketing tool that can drive conversions, build trust, and establish your brand as a leader in your industry.

Here's 10 Exciting Ways that a Website Can Help Businesses Grow

#1 - Invest in having a website

It sounds obvious, although you'd be surprised, not every business has a website, and although social media platforms can serve well in their own ways a website really can do more for your business even if it's a one page, or basic site and I'll cover this more in the next point.

#2 - Directory Listing

At its very core, and basic level, having a website acts as your number one directory listing tool - think about this - how many times might you have googled your favourite restaurant, local café, gym, or spa for that all-important facial or massage (of course!) - if you don't have a website many people may look elsewhere for those that do because it can be difficult to find the information you are looking for. By having a website you can place the important information that your customers will be searching and looking for, such as location, contact details, menus, price lists, images, videos, key information etc. increasing the likelihood or customers to purchase, book, revisit, recommend and more!

#3 - Promotion

The information you provide on your website from the 'about page' to 'services' to 'blog' and more really allows you to promote the key information as well as your brand to your customer. Are you a coach who offers a group programme - your website can help you house all the important details from 'what it's about to how to book' and in some cases even purchase and access the full course or programme. This is the great thing no matter what industry, or what size of business a website is a flexible tool for all to tailor to suit and maximise promoting products or services. Make your website do the work for you.

#4 - Connection

Through your website, you'll be able to connect with your customers and have customers connect with you. This might be showcasing what makes you unique - using your brand voice, imagery and marketing materials, it may also be about demonstrating your vision, mission and values or your sustainability commitment or ESG policy. Let your audience know who you are, what you are about, what you offer and ensure you value the customer experience on and off your website, this will build trust and brand credibility. Connecting with your customer is one of the biggest assets you can have.

#5 - Marketing

We've already touched on this in the above, however not in detail as yet. You see, a website allows you to market your business specifically and in many different ways from SEO and keywords on images, to purpose built shops, courses, membership platforms and more. Throughout any website, you should include some seriously purposeful call to actions, contact forms, and newsletter signups. Think about what your business needs and tailor your website as your number one marketing tool to help you get there.

#6 - Insights

A website is a tool that allows you to measure your results, easily. You can look at page clicks, unique visitors, most viewed pages and more. This can be done on a frequent basis, daily, weekly or monthly - the main thing is you have stats and numbers don't lie - they can help you build a picture of what's working, what's not, how to improve and also what's potentially exceeding expectations and will help fine tune and shape your continued marketing via your website.

#7 - Cost-Effective

For many, and depending on your requirements, a website can be hugely cost-effective - maximising reach and growth for minimal costs. Many website builders offer an affordable monthly cost or annual discount. Sometimes larger organisations will require a more bespoke website through other platforms like WordPress or Craft however relatively speaking a website is an affordable asset to any business.

#8 - Competitive Advantage

Having a website in the first place, as we've established can give a competitive advantage however it's also worth bearing in mind that a 'good or great website' will benefit much more than a 'bad or non-existent' website. What do I mean by this? Have you ever visited a website where the text was all over the place, images out of alignment, difficult to navigate, can't find what you are looking for, buttons don't work, trying to check out was a nightmare or looked dodgy, well there's a secret ingredient to a successful website and that is FLOW - this is where you consider your customer's experience on your website and make sure that they can navigate through it well, understanding information and what to do as they go. This really can make all the difference to sales, and growth along with your branding and marketing.

#9 - Mobile Responsive

It still stands, and more than ever, that mobile responsive websites are required with users on their phone - although a super desktop website is also needed - the ability for customers to view your website on their phone and do everything they can do on a desktop version is crucial. Most website builders account for this now - making it an automatic process however it's still best to make sure the formatting is correct and that everything works as you need it too.

#10 - Open all hours!

For many businesses, this is a huge win - websites are open 24 hours a day - and internationally too - think of your reach and think of your ability for customers to connect. This is why it's so important to VALUE your website, VALUE the customer experience and VALUE the growth that can come from having a simple, budget-friendly website.
